 Environmental stewardship is a core element of the Group’s management policy. NSK has adopted a four-pronged action plan as part of its strategy:
To develop products which help to conserve natural resources and minimise environmental impact
To implement the environmental management system ISO 14001
To take measures which help reduce global warming To control industrial waste
NSK is committed to implementing the environmental management system ISO 14001 throughout its European operations, and the Group has set specific targets for each site in areas such as waste management, energy use, packaging, health and safety, and the use of ozone depleting substances.
Greener Products
While working to reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing process, NSK has also developed products which in themselves incorporate technical competencies to provide environmental benefits. The use of NSK EPAS® ,for example, can improve fuel efficiency by up to 5% and provides a corresponding reduction in vehicle exhaust emissions. In addition, highly efficient, low friction bearings last longer and reduce energy consumption, helping safeguard natural resources and reducing pollution.
